Apple?s Worldwide Developer Conference sold out in record time?1 hour and 43 minutes. So if you want to see the event and you didn?t get a chance to pay Apple to go to it, you?ll have to see it stream online.
Apple was kind enough to post Tim Cook?s WWDC keynote speech. BUT it?s only available (so far) for Safari users. If you use Chrome, Firefox or (heaven forbid!) Microsoft Internet Explorer?too bad, so sad, Apple doesn?t think you rate.
This kind of thing shows that Apple can still be a jerk.
Have to point out that Apple isn?t alone.
Microsoft is doing the same thing. TechEd is its big annual enterprise user conference. You can use any browser to see its streaming videos, BUT its videos require Silverlight?Microsoft?s no-one-cares proprietary alternative to Flash.
Funny thing is that the most interesting thing Microsoft announced today was Microsoft LightSwitch, a development tool to help people work with HTML5?the standards-based alternative to things like Silverlight and Flash.
