John Terry, whose inclusion in England?s Euro 2012 squad (at the expensive of Rio Ferdinand) has caused some mild criticism of new manager Roy Hodgson, has yet to run or kick a ball since incurring a hamstring injury in Saturday?s win over Belgium. On Tuesday, he was again held out of practice as England tries to get their starting left-center half healthy for Euro 2012.

England?s opener versus France is still six days away, but an old player with recent injury problems who?s not practicing? That sounds horrible, particularly given the team?s already thin in defense, and although it sounds like there?s a good chance he?ll play, being unable to train is a big problem.

With the withdrawal Gary Cahill, Joleon Lescott was already being forcied into the starting XI. Now, it ?looks like Phil Jagielka, who played with Lescott at Everton, could start against France. Two weeks ago, the guy was planning a golf vacation with this brother and dad. It?s either that for give 20-year-old Phil Jones the start, though Jagielka?s history with Lescott may trump that.

Regardless, this is turning into a very England summer. As we noted when talking about Frank Lampard?s injury, there is the sense that the Three Lions have already gotten more than their fair share of bad breaks.

With each day bringing new, bad news, the tournament can?t start soon enough for England.
